Tokyo a bit complex when I arrived. Make sure to pick up a map of the subway and train lines when you arrive at the info booths at the airport. Of all the trains, I personally find the Yamanote Line the easiest and most convenient. It goes in an hour loop so youll never wind up way out in the sticks by mistake. Yamanote such as Shibuya, Shinjuku, Akihabaras electric town, Meiji Shrine in Harajuku. Even the old Edo Castle is only two or three blocks straight from the Tokyo Station. Yurikakome which is completely automated and goes to Odaiba.

It goes right thru the Shiodome area and gives the feeling of being in a futuristic world.

Of course, its not as accurate as a GPS device, but it will give you a very good estimate. The first link is the list of mountain ranges, while the second link is the only online map of some mountain ranges in the US I could find.
